Work Placement Program for Indigenous Students

Every year, two full-time Indigenous students are each awarded a scholarship of $4,000 per year for tuition costs (renewable up to four years), combined with the possibility of a paid summer or part-time (during the academic year) work placement at the Bank of Canada.

Work placement opportunities are determined based on the recipient’s field of study and the Bank’s business requirements. Recipients who reside or attend a post-secondary institution outside of the National Capital Region may be offered the option of working at one of the Bank’s regional offices: Halifax, Montréal, Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. Relocation assistance may be provided if required.

A Canadian citizen or permanent resident. A Status Indian, a Non-Status Indian, Inuit or MétisOverall average mark (minimum 70 per cent) Career interests that are relevant to work performed at the Bank of Canada

Economics and Finance: economics, computer science, mathematics or statistics, commerce/business administration with a finance major Administration and Operations: financial services, administration and business, project management, human resources, communications and web, internal audit, currency production, knowledge and information management, security Information Technology and Cyber Security: software development, network engineering, solution architecture, project management, business analysis, cyber security

Level of Study: Students must be studying full-time undergraduate or post-graduate (i.e., master’s or PhD) and enrolled at a Canadian academic institution with degree granting powers.
