Canadian Heritage Award
Canadian Heritage is committed to helping Indigenous youth build a better future for themselves. Scholarships and Youth Initiatives supports and encourages Indigenous youth to reach higher levels of education by providing them with scholarships based on merit and need. Students interested in the Program can apply directly to Indspire. The Scholarships and Youth Initiatives is part of the Aboriginal Peoples’ Program, which focuses on strengthening cultural identity, encouraging full participation in Canadian life and on supporting the preservation and revitalization of Indigenous cultures and languages.
Health and Dental Awards
The Government of Canada is proud to work with Indspire to raise awareness among First Nation, Inuit, and Métis, of various health career options, as well as to increase the number of First Nation, Inuit, and Métis health professionals in Canada. Since 1998, the Government of Canada has supported Indspire’s work to administer the Indigenous health careers bursary and scholarship program. We continue to support this work today through the Government of Canada’s Aboriginal Health Human Resources Initiative, which was created to address the shortages of Indigenous health care providers. This initiative provides financial support to First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students who are pursuing accredited health studies for employment in the health professions. The Government of Canada’s ongoing partnership with Indspire is helping to increase the number of Indigenous people working in the healthcare field and providing health care services to their people and other Canadians.
Scholarships and bursaries annually for Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary health and dental programs.
