Desser Music Scholarship Fund

Commencing in 2014, and for a period of 10 years, the award will now offer substantial support to a recipient studying classical music at an advanced level. The Desser Music Scholarship Fund is awarded annually to an individual to assist in further advancing his/her classical musical training, with preference to be given to an individual studying a string instrument.

About Isidor Desser

The Desser Music Scholarship was established in 1989-90 in memory of Isidor Desser (1912-1989). Mr. Desser was a proud and renowned Canadian orchestral violinist. For many years he held the position of Assistant Concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and throughout his life taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
