The Doris and Junor Chin STEM Bursary

This Bursary will be distributed annually to Indigenous students who are attending post-secondary institutions (i.e. college, university, technical college, or apprenticeship program) with demonstrated financial need for contribution to education costs, with preference given to female students studying in STEM programs.

After completing her engineering degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Ottawa, Jasmine Lyn started a fundraising campaign for Indspire as a way to give back to her community and celebrate her graduation. Knowing that she was very fortunate to have strong support and funding from her family for her education, she realized that many Indigenous youth in Canada do not have the same opportunities. She used her graduation as a platform to raise money to provide the opportunity for a post-secondary education to others. The Doris and Junor Chin STEM Bursary is named in honour of Jasmine’s grandparents who were always supportive of pursuing an education, but were not able to see her graduate.
