Mel Benson Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2012 through generous personal contributions made by Mr. Benson. The award is distributed to Indigenous students from across Canada with demonstrated financial need who are studying post-secondary engineering or technical studies.

About Mel Benson

Mel Benson is a member of the Alberta’s Beaver lake Cree Nation and a successful businessman. Based in Calgary, he is president of Mel E. Benson Management Services Inc., an international management consulting firm. He serves as a director of the Fort McKay Group of Companies and Suncor Energy. Mel is also a former Board Member of Indspire and was recognized with a National Aboriginal Achievement Award in 2003.
