The Bill Messenger Scholarship

The Bill Messenger Award provides financial support for young Indigenous men attending post-secondary who live in an urban area and demonstrate a commitment to the Friendship Centre Movement in Ontario. Indigenous male-identifying community member up to 30 years of age; Attending post-secondary studies or training development programs either part-time or full-time.

Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres Strong Women Scholarship

The Strong Women Scholarship provides financial support for Indigenous women attending post-secondary who live with their dependents in an urban area. Urban Indigenous women caring for dependents and attending post-secondary studies or training development programs either part-time or full-time; Qualified applicants must be living permanently in an urban area, not just for the purpose of attending post-secondary school or training; Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating a commitment to the urban Indigenous community.

Sylvia Maracle Bursary

In recognition of Sylvia Maracle's tireless efforts to lead and support the Two-Spirit movement within Friendship Centres in Ontario, and beyond, during her 43 year tenure as Executive Director of the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC), the Sylvia Maracle Bursary has been established at Indspire.

This bursary will be rewarded to two urban Indigenous persons aged 18-29 who identify as members of the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Non-Binary, Intersex, Asexual and gender diverse (2SLGBTQQNBIA+) community. The Bursary is to pursue a post-secondary education at any level in Canada.
