These awards will be distributed to students who are status members of one of the 34 Southern Chiefs’ Organization Communities attending post-secondary institutions with proven financial need for contribution to education costs.

About Southern Chiefs’ Organization/Southern Chiefs’ Economic Development Corp.

The Southern Chiefs Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) was launched in 2018, with the intention to enhance and strengthen the economic base of the SCO’s 34 Southern Manitoba First Nation members. The SCEDC will focus its efforts towards the pursuit of economic reconciliation in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships in order to create employment and training opportunities for Indigenous workers on a full-time or contract basis. The SCEDC has entered into Joint-Venture Agreements with organizations that focus on building national skills inventories/databases of the Indigenous workforce to maximize the existing and future potential of southern First Nation communities.
