The Maura Kealey Award

This Award will be distributed annually to female Indigenous students enrolled in law or nursing who are attending post-secondary institutions (i.e. college, university, technical college, or apprenticeship program).

Although demonstrated financial needs will be the primary consideration, other factors (such as involvement in or contribution to community as a whole and demonstrated academic merit) may also be considered.

About The Maura Kealey Award

MauraMaura was a writer, a broadcaster, a TV producer, a traveler, a viola player, and an accomplished cook, among her many talents. Born in Ottawa, Maura moved to Montreal in the late 1980’s. She made her mark there at CBC radio, where she is still remembered for the stories she told. She worked as a researcher, writer and producer of some of the best TV magazine shows produced in Montreal, including Popular Mechanics for Kids and Dogs With Jobs. Maura was unfailingly generous and gifted with a sharp sense of humour.
